Access Policy

The following policy is meant to assure consistency and continuity in all matters pertaining to physical access and possession of master keys and OneCard access at Randall Library for its employees and partners. This policy intends to create a stronger level of safety and security at Randall Library; to reduce or eliminate confusion over who has access to which spaces and when that access should occur and not occur; and to reduce one-off decision-making scenarios where exceptions are given without foresight to safety and security.

Retired Faculty and Staff

How to borrow materials

Retired Faculty and Staff will need to visit the UNCW OneCard Office in the Warwick Center to get a new card made that encodes the university ID number on the magnetic stripe on the back of the card.

Upon receipt of the UNCW OneCard, please visit the library to get a new patron record entered into the library system.

Technology Enhanced Collaboration Space (TECS)

The Technology Enhanced Collaboration Space (TECS) is located on the first floor of Randall Library in room #1045. TECS is intended for collaborative work or study, including presentation and practice, and specifically for groups, defined as two or more users actively using the room. The room has a capacity for 30 people and includes the following equipment*:

Instruction Scheduling

Privacy Policy

Protecting the privacy of library users is important.  This policy statement explains how Randall Library operates with regard to various privacy issues.  The library is bound by federal law, state law and professional ethics to ensure open access to information.  The confidentiality of library use extends to your encounters with library personnel.  Librarians and staff treat all requests in a serious and professional manner.

Election Procedures for Library Faculty

LIBRARY FACULTY ELECTION PROCEDURES

Elections for the Library Faculty Personnel Committee, Library Faculty Welfare Committee, and Faculty Senate are held in May by secret ballot. All library faculty members including the University Librarian are eligible to vote for Faculty Senate. The University Librarian is ineligible to vote for the Library Faculty Personnel and Library Faculty Welfare Committees.

Performance Criteria for Library Faculty

I. Introduction

The performance criteria described below are to be used in annual performance evaluations of library faculty, including self-evaluations, peer evaluations, and supervisor evaluations, as well as reviews for 5-year contracts. Employment Policy for Library Faculty

EMPLOYMENT POLICY FOR LIBRARY FACULTY

This statement outlines the policies and procedures governing employment for Library Faculty in keeping with UNCW Policy 08.111, Recruitment and Selection of EPA and Faculty Employees.

1. Library faculty members are exempt from the State Personnel Act (EPA) and employed on 11-month contracts.
