Coming Soon: More Outlets!

You asked and we listened!

Thanks to the support of the Student Government Association and special funding from Academic Affairs, Randall Library is pleased to announce the installation of more outlets on the first and second floors!

Randall Library was last expanded 26 years ago, in 1986, before the rise of personal electronic devices and enrollment has tripled since that time. UNCW students consistently remark that there are not enough electrical outlets in Randall Library. Our students are device dependent; e-readers, laptops, mobile phones, etc.  These devices are a core part of our students' learning experience.

In an effort to improve our facility and bring more power to students, the following work will be performed by December 6, in time for final exams:

» 4 power poles installed on the first floor near Featured Books / Periodicals / Audio Books will provide power to 20 private or collaborative workstations.

» 3 floor outlets installed in the Main Gallery will provide power to three collaborative workstations.

» Upwards of 200 single-plug outlets installed on the second floor will provide power to all private study workstations around both atriums.

To minimize disruption during installation, all work will be performed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The majority of drilling will be done at off-peak times.  We apologize in advance for any inconvenience to our late-night patrons.

Please, please, please...I would love it if there could be more outlets put on the first floor, on the outside walls near the coffee shop. I find that when I need to work but want to sit in the comfy, plush chairs there are no outlets to be seen. I cannot tell from your description if you have this area covered or not so I thought I would suggest it.
