New Display Celebrates Hispanic Heritage
Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.
In 2010, there was a total of 6,487 residents of Wilmington who identified themselves as Hispanic/Latino (U.S. Census). This year Randall Library Government Documents is celebrating Hispanic Heritage by displaying a few materials from its collection that are relevant to the Latino community in Wilmington, NC. In the exhibit "El Gobierno Americano y Tú: Información para los Latinos y la Comunidad (The American Government and You: Information for Latinos and the Community)" you will find an assortment of publications in English and Spanish on topics such as economy, health, education, families, and immigration.

If you are interested in finding government resources regarding Latinos and the Latino community, the librarians from our Government Documents collection have put together a research guide of government resources that can be consulted on a variety of topics and formats in both English and Spanish.
