North Carolina Living Treasures

"You are not an artist simply because you paint or sculpt or make pots that cannot be used.  An artist is a poet in his or her own medium.  And when an artist produces a good piece, that work has mystery, an unsaid quality: it is alive."
-Toshiko Takaezu, Cermic Artist

Randall Library is proud to announce the Recipients of the
2011 North Carolina Living Treasures' Award

Glass Artists Mark Peiser and Richard Ritter will share the honor this year for their individual contributions to traditional craft in North Carolina.

In addition, Penland School of Crafts is being especially acknowledged for their mission of supporting "individual and artistic growth through craft."
