Traveling through Open and Closed Doors: Americans’ Perspectives on Living Abroad
As a part of the Big Read Greater Wilmington*, which is focusing on Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, UNCW faculty and staff members share their experiences living as researchers, students, writers, teachers, and military personnel in countries that have had tense relations with the United States. This panel provides an opportunity for the UNCW campus community to discuss the speakers’ insights into what being “American” can mean in a diverse range of places, including Vietnam, Belarus, and Egypt.
The panel will be moderated by Lisa Coats, First Year Engagement Librarian, and take place Wed. Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in Randall Library's Sherman Hayes Gallery. For a list of panelists, please see below. More information about the Big Read, including a comprehensive list of community events.
