The Curriculum Materials Center (CMC) and the Betty Holden Stike Educational Laboratory (Ed Lab) are specialized collections of teaching materials for grades Pre-K through 12, available to UNCW Watson School of Education Students and area teachers serving WSE student interns. The CMC and Ed Lab are located on the first floor of the Education Building.

CIRCULATION POLICIES FOR UNCW STUDENTS TAKING WSE CLASSES

UNCW Students currently enrolled in WSE classes may borrow materials as follows:

Diagnostic Tests CMC Use Only (Students enrolled in designated diagnostic test courses may check tests out for 7 days.)

OVERDUE, DAMAGE, AND REPLACEMENT CHARGES

Borrowers are responsible for materials until they are checked in at the CMC Desk. Borrowers who lose or damage materials will be charged the replacement cost for the item plus a $15 non-refundable billing fee.

Course Reserve Materials

Reserve materials are subject to fines since these items are high demand, high turnaround and need to circulate to all persons enrolled in the specific course. Reserve fines are as follows:

Hourly checkouts - $1 per item, per hour up to a maximum of $10 per item, per day. If overdue five (5) days or longer, the replacement cost and a $15 non-refundable billing fee is assessed for each item overdue.

Daily checkouts - $5 per item, per day. If overdue five (5) days or longer, the replacement cost and a $15 non-refundable billing fee is assesses for each item overdue.

All other types of materials

The library does not charge fines for any other category of material other than reserve materials but borrowing privileges may be revoked if a user continually has overdue books.

If items other than reserve materials are overdue for two weeks or more, the item's replacement cost and a $15 non-refundable billing fee per item will be assessed.

If an item is damaged or lost, repair or replacement costs will be assessed in addition to the $15 non-refundable billing fee.  Please note that water damage cannot be repaired, and must be replaced. 

UNCW students will have their borrowing privileges blocked when:

  • Their debt for Randall Library materials exceeds $100.00

  • Their debt for borrowing from UNC system libraries or interlibrary loan transactions exceeds $50.00. 

All charges must be paid before you will be allowed to register for the following semester, to graduate, or to receive transcripts.

Materials may be renewed by telephone (962-3362 CMC or 962-3272 Randall Library), or through My Library Record unless materials have been requested by another user.

UNCW Faculty (active and retired), Staff, and Trustees may borrow materials as follows:

*Staff and Trustees may use Diagnostic Tests in the CMC.

Materials may be renewed by telephone (962-3362 CMC or 962-3272 Randall Library), or through My Library Record unless materials have been requested by another user. Although the loan period for most items is for the entire semester, materials may be recalled if another user requests them. Please return recalled items as soon as possible. Borrowers are responsible for materials until they are checked in at the CMC Desk. Replacement costs will be charged to borrowers who lose or damage materials.

CIRCULATION POLICIES FOR AREA TEACHERS

Free cards are issued for use of CMC materials only for public school teachers in the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, and Sampson. These cards are issued in the CMC. Borrowing privileges are not transferable.
