GEORGE D. PRENTICE AND ROGER W.
HANSON
This Collection consists of three letters between George D. (Denison) Prentice and R. (Roger) W. (Weightman) Hanson. Prentice, (1802-1870), was the editor of the Louisville (KY) "Courier Journal". He wrote editorials in behalf of the Union during the Civil War. Hanson, (1827-1863), was the commander of the 2nd Kentucky Infantry. He was captured in 1862 and was imprisoned at Fort Warren. Hanson was later exchanged and went on to become a brigadier-general. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro.
