American Council of the Blind
Dr. James Megivern, former professor of philosophy and religion at UNCW received this collection from the archives of the American Council of the Blind (ACB) and used the materials to compile a history of the organization. He and his wife Majorie Megivern published this organizational history titled, People of Vision: A History of the American Council of the Blind, in 2003.
The collection includes material about the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) which began in 1940, and information about the ACB which split from the NFB to become a separate organization in 1961. Other information from various affiliated branches is also included. Materials such as correspondence, minutes, legislation and publications comprise the bulk of the collection.
This collection was donated to William Madison Randall Library by Dr. James Megivern.
There are no access restrictions on this collection.
