In her solo exhibit, Patricia Shamroy Shaw portrays the women who work in a predominately male profession as spirited and determined in their efforts to bring a feminine perspective to the political arena. In the early '80s, Pat began a journey across the country photographing women in Congress, state legislatures, at conventions and on the campaign trail. Pat shot stills for Not One of the Boys, a groundbreaking documentary about the political gender gap. Narrated by Judy Woodruff, the film aired on Public Television's Frontline and gave Shaw unique photographic access to many of the nation's pioneering female politicians. These 50 historical photographs are mesmerizing, sometimes humorous, and often inspiring. The original exhibition prints are part of the permanent collection at the Arthur Schlesinger Library of Women's History at Harvard University. There's A Woman in the House features carefully selected photographs from Pat's personal collection. Representatives Lindy Boggs, Olympia Snowe, Barbara Milkulski, Bella Abzug and Geraldine Ferraro are but a sampling of the political pathfinders she has captured on film.
