On the days listed below, the class discussion will be student-led.  Each of you will be in a group of two or three students assigned to lead one of these discussions.  Your group will be responsible for getting the discussion started, keeping the class on topic and under control.  Be creative, ask provocative questions, tackle controversial issues, play devil's advocate!  Your mission is to get the entire class involved and talking! 

Your grade for this effort will be based on your in-class performance, the group class plan report, and your individual report.  The class plan report must be a  typed description of how you will conduct the class.  This is a group report, due on the day of your discussion, that will include the following elements:

• Names of group members and the responsibilities of each person
• A list of the questions you will ask
• A description of any additional information you found to supplement the discussion, e.g., a bibliography of related resources that helped you prepare. 

Your individual report, due on the next class day after your discussion, will include the following elements:

• What you learned from the experience, both in terms of content and working with a group.
• How you and your group members prepared for the discussion
• How you think the class discussion went and how you would change the experience if you could repeat it.
