My childhood was spent in Randleman, North Carolina, a small town in Randolph County. It is only about ten miles from the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro. I graduated, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1983 with a B.A. degree in History. I have worked at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington's Randall Library since 1985.
