Ask a Librarian!
Randall Library created the library toolbar to give you quick access to library resources and useful web pages, wherever you are on the web. Downloading the toolbar gives you one-click access to:
- Library article databases
- Library catalog
- UNCW e-mail
- Citation guides and subject guides
- Google and GoogleScholar
- Facebook
- ...and more!
- NEW >>> Direct link to Blackboard!

Download Library Toolbar for IE
Click the link above to download the toolbar. In the pop-up box, click on "Run" or "Save." Then, click "Install."

Download Library Toolbar for Firefox
Click on the link above, then click on the link that says "Click here to install the Library Toolbar." In the pop-up box, wait 3 seconds, then click on "Install Now."
Do I have to pay to use the toolbar?
The library toolbar is free to download and use.
Does the toolbar update automatically?
No, recent changes to the toolbar do not automatically update earlier versions. For example, the link to Blackboard was added on January 24, 2008. Reloading the toolbar will give you access to Blackboard under the "Log Into..." button. If you downloaded the toolbar before January 24, you must download it again to get the updated version.
Check this page for any future updates. Clicking the
button on the toolbar will bring you here.
I'm using a campus computer and don't see the toolbar. Why not?
The library toolbar must be downloaded to each computer you use. (It's not included as part of your personal settings when you log in.) If you aren't the administrator for the computer you're using, contact the administrator if you wish to download the toolbar and cannot do so.
I've installed the toolbar but I don't see it. What do I do?
In IE, click on "Tools," and scroll down to "Toolbars." Make sure the Library Toolbar is checked. (If you're using IE 5.0, the Library Toolbar might be listed under the name "Radio.")
In Firefox, click on "View," and scroll to "Toolbars." Make sure the Library Toolbar is checked.
Can I customize the toolbar?
Customization isn't available at this time; however, you can create your own bookmarks bar. You can also have more than one toolbar visible, so you can use the library toolbar and create your own. In IE, click on Tools > Toolbars > Customize. In Firefox, click View > Toolbars > Customize. Check your browser's help pages for more information.
How do I uninstall the toolbar?
In IE, open the computer Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Find Library Toolbar in the list and click on it, then click the Change/Remove button. In Firefox, click on Tools, then click Add-ons (or Extensions), click on Library Toolbar, and click the Uninstall button.
I have additional questions. Whom do I ask?
Please see the Feedback section below.
If you have additional questions about the toolbar, or would like to provide feedback, please Ask a Librarian and chat with, email or call a librarian. You may also email Rachel Radom at radomr [[at]] uncw.edu.
