Additional
Assistance and Scheduling Appointments
For your convenience and so that
the librarians may serve all patrons equally, it is preferred that students
requiring additional assistance schedule an appointment with the Library.
Scheduling an appointment will guarantee that you obtain the assistance you
need when you want it. Assistance is only offered Monday through Friday or as staff availability allows.
Patrons with disabilities in need of additional assistance may schedule appointments by contacting the Coordinator of Research & Information Services at least one (1) business day in advance (Monday - Friday). The Coordinator, Lisa Williams (910-962-3688 or williamsl@uncw.edu), will then make all possible arrangements to assist the patron.
For assistance in typing a paper or performing research that does not require the use of Randall Library, the student or faculty member should contact UNCW Disability Services.
Readers Program
Randall Library coordinates the Readers Program, which matches students with
disabilities with fellow students who will pull books and journals, make
photocopies, and act as "eyes and hands" for necessary computer work. This
program is supported by student volunteers from the Center for Leadership
Education and Service (CLES), and is managed by the Coordinator of Research & Information Services (Lisa Williams, 910-962-3688 or williamsl@uncw.edu).
Delivery services for students registered with Disability Services.
Students registered with Disability Services are eligible for document delivery of items in our collection whether that means scanning and delivering electronically or retrieving and mailing.
Students eligible to use this service must first register with ILLiad (https://illiad.uncw.edu/firsttime.html), choose Distance Education as the response to question 10 "Status" on the registration form and enter your mailing address.
Books and other returnable items from the Randall Library will be checked out to you and mailed to your home address with a postage paid return label. A date due slip will be included and we ask that you return the item by the due date. Photocopies of articles from journals will be scanned and sent to you as a PDF file through ILLiad.
Interlibrary Loan and Interlibrary Lending Services (https://illiad.uncw.edu/logon.html) are also available for items Randall Library does not own.
Pull Service
For UNCW students who need assistance in retrieving books and journals from the
shelves, Randall Library staff will assist them if time permits. Patrons
must know the call numbers of the books and know which volumes are needed for
journals. The amount of time needed depends on staff availability. It is
preferred that patrons make an appointment if needing assistance, and do not
have a Reader (see Readers Program above).
To schedule an appointment, patrons
may contact the Coordinator of Research & Information Services (Lisa Williams, 910-962-3688 or williamsl@uncw.edu). If patrons have not made an appointment for the Pull Service,
they may leave their list at the Reference Desk and come back in a specified
amount of time.
Photocopying Service

It is preferred that patrons make an appointment if needing assistance, and do not have a Reader (see Readers Program above).

You will be charged for photocopies when you pick up your materials.
