Mediated Searching


Mediated Searches

Randall Library provides access to many research-oriented databases for UNCW faculty. However, due to prohibitive costs associated with databases, Randall Library cannot provide access for all databases.

Research Services provides a mediated search service through the Dialog Information Service for many database the library does not subscribe to. Because this service charges the Library for connect-time and records printed, and because familiarity with the command languages is important for cost-effectiveness, librarians conduct these searches. For a list of databases available through this service click here.

The library reserves the right to provide the first 25 search results for search relevancy. If more are necessary then we may need to negotiate cost sharing through a grant or departmental funding.

Please describe your search request. Be sure to include concepts, synonyms, acronyms, abbreviations, major authors or scholars, methodologies, etc. that you think will aid in the search. If you need company or industry information, please describe that as well.
