STAR is a one-on-one guidance and support system, with thesis or final project assistance provided by your personal, dedicated librarian. The information professional chosen to work with you will have an interest in your particular research until your thesis or final project is sent to the bindery.

Advantages of the STAR Program
Though any of Randall Library's information professionals are always happy to take your questions, there are definite advantages to having the dedicated attention of one librarian.  The one-on-one instruction sessions will save valuable research time and provide continuity throughout the research process.  The librarian's knowledge of the Randall collection and other library's collections will expedite resource sharing.

Your STAR Librarian will:
  • give a physical tour of the relevant sections of the stacks and purchase books if needed
  • introduce you to specific databases relevant to your topic
  • teach in-depth searching methods for databases and the online catalog
  • explain the Table of Contents and Alert Services available for you
