American Memory  Collections of photographs, sound recordings, photos, movies, and digitized documents from the Library of Congress's Americana Collections.  Numerous collections have valuable information on African American studies.  Three multi-format digital exhibits are especially good:

Amistad Research Center  Library of manuscripts at Tulane University that strives to preserve African-American and ethnic history and culture.  Includes numerous digitized documents.
Center for Black Music Research  The center is devoted to research, preservation and dissemination of information on black music.  A discussion board, bookstore and links to information on black music are available. 
Documenting the American South  A collection of sources on the literature, culture and history in the American south from the colonial period through the early 20th century.  It includes North American Slave Narratives and The Church in the Southern Black Community, as well as other projects with information relevant to African-American studies.
Dred Scott Digital Project  Digital images and transcriptions of 85 original documents from the Dred and Harriet Scott court cases tried in St. Louis.   In addition to the documents, the site also provides a brief chronology and links for further information.

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture  A national research library devoted to collecting, preserving and providing access to resources documenting people of African descent.  The center provides digital collections, online exhibitions and multimedia samplers.
