Dictionaries and Encyclopedias

  1. AIP Physics Desk Reference. 3rd ed. New York: Springer, 2003. A major revision of the previous two classic, best selling reference editions. the third edition has been completely updated and modernized to reflect current modern physics. The book is a concise compilation of the most frequently used physics data and formulae with their derivations. This revision has six more chapters than the second edition, outdated chapters dropped, and new chapters added on atmospheric physics, electricity and magnetism, elementary particle physics, fluid dynamics, geophysics, nonlinear physics, particle accelerators, polymer physics, and quantum theory. There is a new last chapter on practical laboratory data. Reference Collection: QC61 .P49 2003
  1. CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics - first place to look for authoritative, up-to-date data on properties of inorganic and organic compounds and other frequently used scientific data. Also included is data on thermochemistry, molecular structure and spectroscopy, fluid and thermodynamics, nuclear and particle physics, and more. Reference Collection: QD65 .H3 2000-2001
  1. Encyclopedia of Physics - focused on pure physics dealing with the most fundamental aspects of nature such as light, sound, movement, and force, the encyclopedia includes entries on concepts, terms, effects, laws, principles, theories, experiments, observations, people, institutions, organizations, issues, laboratories, and other subjects. Also included are entries on applied physics, astrophysics, biophysics, chemical physics, geophysics, and medical physics. Also included are 11 topical essays, biographies, and a bibliography of additional materials. Reference Collection: QC5 .R596 2004
  1. Halliday, D., R. Resnick, and J. Walker. Fundamentals of physics. 6th ed. New York: John Wiley & Sons, 2001. General Collection: QC21.2 .H35 2000
  1. Kragh, H. Quantum generations: a history of physics in the Twentieth Century.
Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press, 1999. General Collection: QC7 .K7 1999
