Special Collections serves the research needs of UNCW students and faculty, as well as the wider community, by acquiring, preserving and providing access to books and archival materials that describe the history and culture of Southeast North Carolina.
University Archives collects official records of the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) as well as other items related to the history of Wilmington College and the University. We provide access to these materials in accordance with the General Records Retention and Disposition Schedule for the University of North Carolina System.
Our digital collections are the product of collaborative projects within the library, the university, and the wider community. They include digitized artifacts, art, diaries, letters, newspapers, photographs, oral histories, and reports. These collections focus on the history of the University of North Carolina Wilmington as well as the history of Southeast North Carolina and the Lower Cape Fear Region.
