Ralph Newton Jordan joined the US Navy in Raleigh, North Carolina and was shipped to Great Lakes, Illinois for basic training. He was assigned as a Coxswain (Helmsman) for a P15. Jordan's tour of duty took him to the Pacific where he took part in the battles for Okinawa, Saipan, and Tinian. He was also involved in military action at Subic Bay, the Philippines and the Marshall Islands.
