William Ed. Morris joined the US Navy in the spring of 1942. He attended boot camp and technical school at Bainbridge, Maryland. There he trained as a Radio operator. He received pre-flight training at Ottawa, Iowa and Corpus Christi, Florida. Morris was deployed to the European theater and served in North Africa, Italy and France.
