Ray Wyche joined the US Army on July 30, 1945 and reported for boot camp to Camp Croft, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He trained to be a heavy weapons crewman and served in Germany as a unit truck driver with the 3rd Division Headquarters Company. His duty stations included Marburg and Ziegenheim in Germany and Le Havre, France. Wyche was later assigned to the Constabulary Unit (Constabulary Control Section Headquarters Troop) at Bamburg, Germany (Bolivia).
