Dan Cameron served in the US Army during WWII. He was assigned to Communications and served as Battery "B" Commander during his tour of duty. He attended Virginia Military Institute prior to his enlistment. He was assigned to the 5th Army Corps and while at Camp Davis, Holly Ridge, NC he was attached to the 430th Antiaircraft Battalion. He took part in battles at Normandy, La Bourget Airport near Paris, France and on the Rhine River. Cameron was assigned as a prison guard at the allied prisoner of war camp in Stuttgart, Germany. While stationed in Europe he was able to visit Liverpool, Blackpool, Switzerland, and Marseilles.
