Eugene Odom joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. He attended training in Key West, Florida, and sonar school in Miami, Florida.

   Mr. Odom subsequently traveled to Norfolk, Virginia, to join the crew of the USS Booth DE-170, a destroyer escort operating mainly in Atlantic/North Atlantic waters. He served on the Booth until the end of World War II, after which he retired from the Navy. Mr. Odom is a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
