10/31 “Visualizing Cities: Representing the Past with Augmented Reality”
Augmented Reality (AR) offers scholars working on the histories and cultures of urban environments new ways to share their research on site and in the context of exhibitions and publications. This talk will discuss the critical affordances and challenges of this emerging medium, highlighting project examples from Visualizing Cities team projects focused on Durham, NC and Venice, Italy.

11/1 Workshop: Create Your Own Augmented Reality with Zappar
This workshop is a free, hands-on introduction to augmented reality using the smartphone application called Zappar. For the hands-on portion, please bring your smartphone. Please RSVP to this event, knoxa [at] uncw.edu. Free educational use accounts will be created ahead of time.

Learn tips and tricks for brainstorming, preparing, and submitting grants. Szabo has experience with NEH, Getty, and Mellon grants. She has also been a reviewer for NEH Digital Humanities grants. This event is open to faculty and staff.
