The Cameron Art Museum, located in Wilmington, N.C., is housed in a 42,000 square foot facility designed by the architectural firm of Gwathmey Siegel & Associates (NYC). Opened to the public in the Spring of 2002, the Museum campus includes two facilities: the Cameron Art Museum and The Clay Studio. These facilities are sited on 9 1/2 acres of longleaf pine woodlands comprising Pyramid Park, which features nature trails, a pond, a Civil War historic battle site and site-specific esculturass throughout the grounds.
The Museum presents changing exhibitions comprised of fine arts, crafts and design. Public programs in various arts disciplines (lectures, music, films, literature, dance) are ongoing and workshops and ceramic classes are offered throughout the year at The Clay Studio with master resident artist Hiroshi Sueyoshi.
The Cameron Art Museum's mission is to enhance visual and cultural literacy, serving the community and enriching the quality of life for Museum visitors through innovative exhibitions, dynamic public programs, publications, and educational opportunities about visual art.
We have included a sampling of the museum's permanent collection, components of which are periodically on view in thematic exhibitions. The collection is not exhibited permanently.
