the tools

Besides creativity, artists need materials and tools to complete their works. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to artists’ tools. This sub-segment has a collection of images taken over the years in area artists’ studios and in institutional studio areas. The tools are arranged by the type of visual art but obviously many are used across many different mediums. Nearly all of the photographs were taken by Sherman Hayes, University Librarian UNCW.
