The Cape Fear Surfing Archive was created in 2002 and is a subset of Special Collections at UNCW Library. The archive’s collections focus primarily on preserving the heritage of surfing along North Carolina’s southeastern coast.

Ghost Maps: Visualizing Disease Narratives was a course offered in the fall 2021 semester that blended ENG 313: Writing About Science, Medicine, and the Environment and ENG 390: Studies in Literature. Together, Profs. Katie Peel and Jeremy Tirrell and their students explored the role of narrative in disease—in case studies, rhetoric, ideology and literature.

The History Hub is an initiative of the History Department at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), supported in part by UNCW Library. Looking Back Through the Windows of Time is a digital exhibit on the history of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Library. It emerged from a partnership between the digital initiatives unit and Center for Southeast North Carolina Archives and History. The exhibit take the viewer on a journey starting in 1947 upon the opening of Wilmington College to the present-day expansion and renovation. Included in the pages are little pieces of history on library stewardship and operations.

This project emerged from a collaboration between The Office of Military Affairs and UNCW Library. We invite you to take a moment to read, reflect, and interact with this exhibit as we honor and remember the lives lost on this day. These reflections were written by UNCW students immediately after the events of 9/11. A year later, the notebook was brought out for students to reflect on the past year.
