About Awards at UNCW Library
There are four awards given by UNCW Library. These awards recognize student research and creativity, faculty librarians who demonstrate exceptional contributions to UNCW Library, staff members for their distinguished work to advance the Library’s mission, and UNCW faculty members or instructors who have engaged in innovative or exceptional work with UNCW Library.

Anne Pemberton Award for Student Research and Creativity
Developed in memory of our beloved colleague, Anne Pemberton, a fierce advocate for student success, the Student Research and Creativity Award is intended to promote undergraduate scholarship and creativity in the areas in which she was passionate.
UNCW Library Engagement Award
The UNCW Library Engagement Award is given annually to a UNCW faculty member or instructor who has engaged in innovative or exceptional work with library collections, programs, staff, and services in furtherance of UNCW student success or research, scholarship, and creative output.
Library Faculty of the Year Award
The UNCW Library Faculty of the Year Award recognizes a faculty librarian who has demonstrated exceptional contributions in one or more areas of teaching & instruction, research & scholarly support, service & leadership, innovation & creativity, community engagement, and/or professional development, as well as overall excellence in librarianship. This award celebrates innovation, leadership, and dedication to the mission of the university and its academic community.
Library Staff Excellence Award
The annual UNCW Library Staff Excellence Award celebrates a staff member for their distinguished work to advance the Library’s mission to foster and promote student success, faculty scholarship, and community engagement, providing information resources, learner- and scholar-centered services, and community programming for the campus and greater Southeast North Carolina community in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
