Shades of Blue Program Series

Welcome to the Shades of Blue program series, where we’ll explore the intersections of identity through the lens of water. Join us as we dive into thought-provoking discussions, creative expressions, and powerful stories that reveal the many ways water shapes and reflects our diverse experiences.

Monday: Lunch and Learn book discussion with visiting artist and author, Julie Patarin-Jossec, Discovery Hall 1070, 12 pm. Register here.

Tuesday: Interactive artist performance, "I hear the quivering of that flame". This performance dialogues with an ongoing series started in 2024 by the artist around queer embodiment, film, and water ecologies. Through the use of sound, video, and live performance, it proposes a reflection on the materiality of queer bodies in relation to the pollution and exploitation of marine ecosystems. Visualization and Analysis Lab, Discovery Hall, 4 pm.

Thursday: Film Screening and Discussion of Wade in the Water: a journey into Black surfing and aquatic culture. A panel discussion, community tabling, and film screening with Q&A. Refreshments provided. Discovery Hall 1070, 4 pm.
