    The UNCW Library invites students, faculty, and staff to participate in an informative Government Information Workshop on November 20 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This virtual session will focus on leveraging federal resources to access essential information regarding legislation.

    Attendees will learn how to navigate various government databases and explore valuable .gov sites that can aid in tracking bills and understanding legislative processes. This workshop aims to enhance research skills and provide tools that are beneficial for academic and professional pursuits.

    Welcome to the Shades of Blue program series, where we’ll explore the intersections of identity through the lens of water. Join us as we dive into thought-provoking discussions, creative expressions, and powerful stories that reveal the many ways water shapes and reflects our diverse experiences.



    Monday: Lunch and Learn book discussion with visiting artist and author, Julie Patarin-Jossec, Discovery Hall 1070, 12 pm. Register here.


    Tuesday: Interactive artist performance, "I hear the quivering of that flame". This performance dialogues with an ongoing series started in 2024 by the artist around queer embodiment, film, and water ecologies. Through the use of sound, video, and live performance, it proposes a reflection on the materiality of queer bodies in relation to the pollution and exploitation of marine ecosystems. Visualization and Analysis Lab, Discovery Hall, 4 pm.


    Thursday: Film Screening and Discussion of Wade in the Water: a journey into Black surfing and aquatic culture. A panel discussion, community tabling, and film screening with Q&A. Refreshments provided. Discovery Hall 1070, 4 pm.

    On Tuesday, November 12, at 2 PM, Discovery Hall 1070 will host Sayantani Dasgupta, an Associate Professor in Creative Writing. She will engage in a discussion with Delandrus Seales from the UNCW Library and read from her new book, Brown Women Have Everything: Essays on (Dis)comfort and Delight.

    This collection explores the experiences of brown women, addressing themes of identity and resilience. The event is co-sponsored by the UNCW Library and the International Faculty and Staff Association. Join us for an insightful afternoon with Dasgupta as she shares her perspectives and readings from her work.
